Risk of Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs)
Our Challenge
- ChemRisk was asked by a global consumer products manufacturer to evaluate the
potential risks and evolving regulatory climate surrounding pharmaceuticals and personal care products in water.
Our Approach
- We assembled and reviewed 400+ papers from the scientific literature on this issue and investigated the regulatory activity across the globe.
Our Findings
- The U.S., in addition to numerous other countries, do not yet have regulations regarding these chemicals in drinking water.
However some countries have as many as 100 chemicals scheduled for regulation.
These will cover monitoring of influent and effluent, and bioassay screening.
