Screening-Level Risk Assessment of Portions of a Former Oil and Gas Extraction Site
ChemRisk was retained to evaluate portions of an oil and natural gas extraction site at an undisclosed location in Louisiana.
Portions of the property were also used for recreational activities such as hunting.
A screening-level assessment for potential human exposures to various chemicals, metals, and natural occurring radioactive materials
(NORM) was performed
– Soil and groundwater data from multiple sampling events over the large area of the property were evalated.
– Assessment considered a number of chemicals, metals, and radioactive materials, including mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium,
barium and radium-226.
Comparison to health-based values such as RECAP SSLs, EPA SSLs, EPA Eco-SSLs, and regional background, ChemRisk concluded
that the site did not pose a risk for hypothetical resident, worker, or recreational visitor.
