Dichloromethane, or methylene chloride, is a commonly used solvent for stripping paint and for degreasing metal parts. It is also used to decaffeinate coffee and has several uses in the food flavorings industry. Due to its common use in industry for many decades, we have studied this chemical on dozens of occasions. We have published a number of assessments which have addressed this chemical.
