Exposure Assessment for an International Entity
Our Challenge
- ChemRisk was asked by a foreign governmental health agency to perform a complete review of the literature looking for environmental concentrations of chemicals in various media, which would be used in regulatory decisions
Our Approach
- We collected data on background concentration of 10 chemicals in various media, including soil, air, groundwater, drinking water, consumer products, foods, biota, breast milk, and bodily fluids.
- Chemicals included inorganic mercury, F1 hydrocarbons, thallium, naphthalene, 1 and 2-methylnapthalenes, dioxins, manganese, PERC, PFOA and PFOS.
Our Findings
- We estimated daily intakes of these chemicals for the general population. The data were used by the government in support of soil quality guidelines for these chemicals.
