Formaldehyde is the simplest type of aldehyde, and can be formed both naturally and in industrial processes. It is a constituent of car exhaust and cigarette smoke, and has historically been used as a disinfectant and preservative. Scientists in our firm have studied the human health effects of formaldehyde, at various times, for more than 20 years. We have published a number of papers on how to assess the occupational health risks and have convened one or more scientific advisory panels on this chemical.
