Household Biocide
Our Challenge
We were retained to assess the potential hazard of no-flush urinals in locations attempting to limit water consumption.
The chemical of concern was Chloroxylenol.
Our Approach
We conducted a human health risk assessment of Chloroxylenol focusing on what might be found in the LA River and The Pacific Ocean:
Evaluated inhalation of vapor emissions of chloroxylenol from the water body.
Assessed incidental ingestion of water while wading or swimming.
Evaluated dermal contact with water while wading or swimming.
Our Findings
Possible adverse human health risks associated with discharge of chloroxylenol were virtually non-existent.
